This may have slipped under your radar until recently but Peter Guy of the GetInToThis music blog has used a dash of his creativity along with a sprinkle of his entreprenueralism to bring our city what it has needed for a long time. The Liverpool GIT Music Award…

Finally we can showcase our finest an award the talented people in the city with an award that the UK press is already dubbing the ‘Scouse Mercury’. A title that leads you to assume big things and you wouldn’t be wrong. Just take a look at the judging panel that was announced today.

Joshua Burke - Co-founder of Waxxx Magazine

Andy Capper - Global Editor of Vice Magazine

John Doran - Editor of Music Website, The Quietus

Peter Guy - Editor of the Getintothis blog

Steve Miller (Revo) - The man behind Evol promotions

Paul Rogers - Head of content at LFC and former music journalist.

Craig Pennington - Editor of Bido Lito! Magazine

Alexandra Topping - Journalist at the Guardian

Matt Wilkinson - Editor of NME

There has already been over 250 applicants for this award but that should not stop you entering! Get a load of the prize!  

  • Recording time at Liverpool studio Sandhills Studio.
  • A showcase at this year’s Sound City and Liverpool Music Week.
  • The winners will also play a gig at Vice Magazine’s London bar The Old Blue Last.
  • As well as having a promo shot by Virgin Media Shorts filmmaker of the Year nominee Ian Gamester to be screened at FACT, the city’s art house cinema and creative technologies centre.
