So there it is. It’s been and gone. An incredible night that lived up to and surpassed all expectations!! The GIT Awards! The line up was incredible and the diversity shown on stage in terms of genres, styles and personalities was amazing. It’s great to the city showcased in such a way…
Harvest Sun presents alt indie poppers, Sea of Bees. Creation of musical mastermind, Julie Ann Bee, Sea of Bees give indie an easier more fun poppy edge with their simple structured songs and enjoyable vocals…
Below my feet the sounds of a busy bar were muffled, a reminder that the world outside was still there. Something had to be there otherwise the sound of Silent Cities would have made the audience forget something else existed outside of this intimate venue. Simon Maddison, singer/songwriter took to the stage first, in what was going to be a demonstration in what the Liverpool folk scene had to offer…
CASS McCOMBSplus very special guest… MIKE HERON (The Incredible String Band)
“Not only do we have the great Cass McCombs, who released 2 of the finest albums we heard last year, but we’ve managed to somehow persuade Mike Heron of The Incredible String Band to join the bill, for what could be one of the finest double bills we are likely to witness ever in the history of gigs.” - Harvest Sun
The warm 80’s esque smooth singing Cass McCombs comes to Liverpool on the 7th of this month. He’s got a voice you just have to sit back and let seduce you and a voice you need to keep your girlfriend away from. This is an exciting gig. No doubt about it. Mr Mike Heron of Incredible String band fame will be backing him up with a support slot not to miss. The late John Peel once said, “Cass McCombs is unobtrusively brilliant”; he got it so right. Have a glass of red and enjoy…

But now Mojo’s decision to scrap live music has left us all (most of us) in tears. Plus, the music scene down on a night that played an important part on the circuit. A night that filled a gap. That night was Club Lazy Genius…
This interview nearly didn’t happen! Here’s what the plan was. Meet up with the EverIsland guys, Sam and Clarry, at Mello Mello. Simples. A sit down with Liverpool’s newest and freshest promoters sounded right up my street and where better to see them than where thier recent jam packed Muto Leo gig took place?
Got there, Mello was shut. It’s a long story so I’ll save you the trauma but it involved a lonely sit down in LEAF, a broken phone, a sachel of sugar and an accidental cross of paths with the EverIsland guys captured on Slater Street by an unassuming Phil Macdonald, our photograpoher. It was a fluke I even found them but as long as they were in sight I could rest easy that night…
