You can’t really put the word ‘luxury’ to many things in our local music scene but tomorrows GIT Awards are as close as is gets up for us dirty lot. The event taking place at LEAF on Bold Street will see 10 of the 12 nominees perform and one of them take home the coveted GIT Award Prize! The invite only event will be displaying what a panel of musically inclined judges have picked as the cream of our Liverpool crop out of over 450 applicants!!

Last month, a new night opened at the Kazimier – Gold Soundz. It promised to be an alternative club night, playing classic indie, rock and pop from the 80s and 90s. It could be perceived by some as a night run by those on the scene for those in the know, but I was keen to make it down, partly to support friends but also out of curiosity and an interest in seeing something different on the musical landscape. I was early and the venue was pretty empty but it quickly got busy and as time wore on, any scenester fears dissolved. Community Thoughts On Local Music Press
I thought rather than giving another editor’s opinion on the local scene I would take a step back and once again post what you guys have been saying. The Liverpool Band’s facebook page, created and ran by Tony Donaghey and co-admined by myself, is in my eyes Liverpool’s online social music community hub. Every once in a while debate like this is sparked. The problem is not everyone sees it. I thought I’d try and spread the views a little further.As there are strong views and a few names brought up I have to make it clear that these are not necessarily the thoughts of the blog however we will be posting our thoughts soon.
